About me
I grew up in Saint-Nazaire, a town on the French Atlantic Coast. I initially pursued a career in science: I graduated as a chemical engineer in 2010 and worked in this field until 2016. But that year, an event would change my life forever: I decided to travel to Australia for 12 months on a Working Holiday visa.

What was initially supposed to be a gap year before returning to my "normal life" in Europe turned out to be an eye-opening experience. During the many months I traveled in a van across the country and then lived and worked in Melbourne, I realised that my future would not be behind a desk or in a lab. Meeting dozens of people from all over the world, backpackers like me or locals, made me understand the importance of human contact.
This experience also reminded me how much I had always loved telling stories. I grew up surrounded by books, and even though I had chosen a scientific career, it was in French that my grades were always the best. So I began to create and share content online: first a simple blog for my family and friends to describe my Australian adventures, then the website insidemybackpack.com and the corresponding Instagram page (both still exist, but I no longer update them).
After another year of traveling around the world, I finally returned to France where I started working at the tourism office of my hometown. I really enjoyed this career change, particularly working with the communications and marketing team. It was during this time that I started doing video editing, for promotional content for our Instagram page. But there was one thing I was missing: Melbourne.
I fell deeply in love with this city the moment I first set foot there in September 2016. There was something indefinable that I liked, that made me feel good there. And I missed that "something" deeply. That's why I decided to change my horizons once again and return to Melbourne. In 2024, I enrolled in the Master of Media & Communication program at Swinburne University, in order to improve my video editing skills. I also created the website insidemymelbourne.com, as well as dedicated accounts on several social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok). I was back in the city I love most in the world, ready to tell all its secrets and legends.

The latest twist in this not-so-linear career came at the end of 2024. I started working as a tour guide, showing the beauty of Melbourne and its surroundings to visitors from all over the world. My goal today is to settle permanently in this city that I love deeply, while continuing to flourish in this professional field which allows me to combine all my passions. So if you like my profile and you're interested in a collaboration, do not hesitate to contact me, it will be a pleasure for me to meet you and discuss your projects with you!

What people said about me
We spent an incredible morning with Matthias (“Matt”!) who is a wonderful guide. Not only is Matt very knowledgeable, he is also very personable and easy to talk to. He took us to several different parts of the city that we would otherwise not have visited on our own. We loved seeing Melbourne through the eyes of a local! I hope we have an opportunity to have Matt guide us again on our next trip to Melbourne.

We did a 4 hour cocktails and bites tour w Matthias. It was great. We stopped in 3 different places, each for light bites and a drink. Matt picked 3 very different places. The food was all local ingredients and great. Matt is very personable and very knowledgeable about the area. We had a great time and highly recommend. Great experience.

Here are some of the many reviews I have received from visitors I have had on tour, in and around Melbourne!
★★★★★
We visited vineyards in the Yarra Valley. What a beautiful discovery! Fine wines, delicious meals, and bucolic landscapes. Our guide, Matthias, gave us a lot of information about the area and was very flexible about the schedule and program of the day. We were able to visit other parts of the beautiful city of Melbourne on our return. He embelished the visit with very relevant historical anecdotes. Very competent guide.

Both the Yarra Valley and the Phillip Island tours were fantastic. These are great ways to see wildlive and areas outside of Melbourne. Our guide for both tours was Matthias. He was friendly, very knowledgeable, and a perfect guide.
